Description

Mickey Mantle blasted 536 home runs during his glorious career with the New York Yankees. In 1997 Mickey's wife and family authorized a "Mickey Mantle Career Ring", in a limited edition of "536", corresponding to Mantle's home run total. Here we have ring "#23/536" from this dazzling edition. Fashioned in 10K gold, this approximate size "13" ring weighs in at a hefty 44.1 grams. The front is adorned with Mickey's uniform number "7", which is inset with six genuine diamonds. Surrounding the diamond 7, are Mantle's name and career playing dates 1951-1968. The left shank sports a relief rendering of Yankee Stadium, with a facsimile Mantle autograph above, and his uniform number retirement date "6/8/69" below. On the right shank, are five bats engraved with career highlights, including "Hall of Fame 1974; Triple Crown 1956; .298 BA-1509 RBI; MVP 1956, 1957, 1962; and 18 World series HR". The interior of the band is engraved with the LE numbering "023/536"; and the maker/gold purity "Balfour 10KY", with the "Y" likely a reference to the ring's yellow gold color. Condition is like-new, and the ring comes with its original presentation box, and an LOA from Mark Lewis Sports Memorabilia stating Mantle hit home run #23 on 7/13/52.
