Ever seen this rarity before? Neither have we. It's perhaps the only known surviving example, and it transcends baseball as a historic artifact of the Civil Rights movement. Top billing here goes to the journalist and NAACP activist Daisy Bates who coordinated the famous "Little Rock Nine" students that integrated Central High School in Arkansas. (
Click here to see Bates and the Little Rock Nine.) Bates appeared with fellow trailblazer Jackie Robinson at an NAACP fundraising dinner on June 14, 1959, in Bayonne, NJ. The 11x17 cardstock broadside bears heavy moisture staining and related age wear—all of which is essentially a moot point with such an important, one-of-a-kind relic.
