It was a case of out with the old and in with the new for Washington D.C. baseball in the early 1960s. The Senators relocated to Minnesota as the Twins, in time for the 1961 season, and the same year an instant replacement took the field as the new Washington Senators. The luster wore off quick, as this expansion team lowered the bar for futility all the way down into the dirt. Still, as the hapless squad moved into its new digs at DC Stadium (later RFK Stadium), manager Mickey Vernon did have a few reliable players under his command, such as Chuck Hinton, Jimmy Piersall, Ed Brinkman and Claude Osteen. These fine fellows and the rest of the perennial cellar dwellers have contributed autographs to the offered 1962 Washington Senators team-signed baseball. This OAL/Cronin ball (EX-MT) hosts a total of (29) solid signatures, which show average ("8-9") potency. Auction LOA from JSA.
