With a current ground war raging in Eastern Europe, the 20th Century "Cold War" is looking like the lesser of two evils. At the center of the old USSR regime and its agenda to spread communism, was Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Gromyko. Recall this prominent political figure, with this White House press conference photo in framed display. Gromyko is seen at the podium, while visiting the U.S. to discuss limits on tactical weapons and troop reductions in Europe. Seated at the dais are 37th American President Richard M. Nixon, with his advisors Henry Kissinger and Secretary of State William Rogers. This meeting between Nixon and the high ranking Soviet official, was a preliminary discussion, leading to the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty of 1972. Mounted in a 22x17 gold gilt frame, this 14x9 photo is signed by Gromyko ("7-8", d.1989) at bottom left, by means of a steel-tip fountain pen.
