Drink in a sweet treat, with this early 1900s demitasse tea cup. This diminutive porcelain cup is evenly proportioned, at 2-1/4" high, with a 2-1/4" diameter. Decorating this delicate vessel, is an illustration of the Chicago "Cub" mascot holding a bat, while his eyes suggest he is sizing up the opposing pitcher before his turn at bat. A gold accent stripe rings the rim, and another gold stripe dresses up the handle. Around back of the anthropomorphic batter, is a customized presentation name in gold lettering. Wear is modest, and the graphics remain bold, which is quite pleasing in light of the considerable age of this antique cup. At the time, the "Windy City" was enjoying favorable breezes from the baseball gods, with 5 NL pennants won by the "Cubbies" during the period 1906-1918, and this attractive piece is a pleasant representative of those high-flying days.
